The Public Sector Modernisation Fund is based on an alternative approach to the Efficiency Dividend. In the 2017-18 Budget, the Government invested $500 million over three years into projects that aim to modernise and enhance the productivity of the public sector, and to support departments and agencies to transition to more sustainable operating models.
The Modernisation Fund has been allocated across 42 projects in two project streams:
- The $350 million Transformation and Innovation stream provides funding to 21 projects that aim to modernise and enhance the productivity and innovation.
- The $150 million Agency Sustainability stream provides funding to 21 projects that support agency's transition to more modern and sustainable operating models.
Fund projects are due for completion at the end of the 2019-20 financial year. You can read more about projects that are already delivering results in the Stories section.
